Atherton Tablelands

Mission Beach

We have moved on to "Lake Tinaroo" in the Atherton Tablelands and we are staying in a caravan park right on the lake, it is a beautiful spot and the weather has been great so we have spent the last 2wks visiting all the tourist spots that are within our budget, there is so much to see around here with craters, lakes, waterfalls, rain forests not to mention all the other things like markets etc. tomorrow we are off to see another lake then stop for a pancake brunch at a town called Yungaburra. We have been to visit where we will be house sitting and it is an excellent spot and the people are very nice,  I have been able to keep up my exercising and also managed to do an off road fun run at Atherton and I will be doing a small triathlon at Atherton next weekend, I have also been  getting a supply of fish to eat from our neighbour who goes out fishing every day.

We are moving from here into Atherton caravan park on Saturday for a few days before we start house sitting and our friends who have been with us will be moving on further inland then back home to Hervey Bay so we may not see them again until next year but it has been great fun.
The weather here is showery and overcast today which is the worst we have had for 2wks but it is still not cold,

After seeing the specialist in Cairns I am able to put my medical problems on hold until we return to Hervey Bay where we will have to prop for at least 6mths to get it sorted. I did ok in the triathlon but as usual there were no prizes for old farts which I was a bit disappointed in because it cost $30 to enter and only prizes for M & F & Junior winners and no random draws, I also did a couple of rides though the bike trails some of which they use for competitions.

We have now moved out to our house sitting and settling in ok by helping out with chores around the property and getting to know what we have to do which is a bit more than we expected but ok, yesterday I went with the owner(Alan) to check out the irrigator and we came across a Diamond Python about 3.5m long, the biggest one I had seen in the wild (and I didn't have my camera or phone with me) but Alan had his so I should be able to get one from his, today we have been helping put up some electric fences and while we were doing this we found a cow down so they are trying to get her up again at the moment, we are staying out of that one because the cattle are a bit agro,
There is plenty of wildlife here to keep us occupied and we are looking forward to getting a glimpse of a croc in the backwater near us, there is a bit too much activity at the moment for them to laze on the banks, we love it here on the tablelands it is just like Tassy or other mainland country areas but warmer!!!!!! we visited a friend of Marion's daughter who moved up here from Tassy and they are loving it although they are having a few problems with paralysis tics which are rife in their area but there are none out here, the average temperature here is 25>30 deg but they need some rain, it is very dry. We won't get bored as we have 4 horses 2 dogs, ducks, chooks, fish, magpies, and gardens to look after and it looks as though we will be taking them to Cairns to catch their plane then picking them up about 200k round trip.
Cheers all til next time.
