Travels 2015 Continued.....

It has been quite some time since I have updated our travels and a lot of water has passed under the bridge in the meantime.
Motorcycle Mechanic
We spent a couple of mths with my kids around the Mornington Peninsular Vic. and while there we updated our car to a 2003 Pajero  Exceed auto (must be getting old needed an auto), we got it for a great price and we sold our other one at a good price so we spent a lot of elbow grease bringing it up to our standard, I also helped my son overhaul his motorbike engine and jet ski starter motor among other jobs.
While staying at my sons we thought we were going to lose everything we owned because a fire in the area got out of control which was seriously threatening the Crib Point township and the only thing that saved  the town was a wind change with some rain, we weren't there at the time but the whole area was evacuated for a few hours.
Sunset Over Rural Tasmania

We left Melb. for Tasmania in March for a couple of mths to visit the rest of the family, I fitted a solar panel system and water pump to Marion,s daughter caravan then helped her other daughter for 2 days painting her house, we moved around between friends and relatives as much as we could, the first week we went to Hobart to watch her g/daughter compete in the little athletics state championships, while there Marion got a stomach bug of some sorts which laid her up for 3days, then we spent 2w/ends watching 2 other g/children playing basketball coastal competition (as you can see we weren't idle very much),to top it off Marion's cousin passed away at only 48 years of age. it was very sad.
After arriving back on the big island we prepared to start our journey north to Rutherglen where we were to have some medical duties sorted, everything is good although there are a few more tests on the agenda in the coming mths while we are doing 2 house sits in the area starting next week.
While waiting we decided to go to Mildura for a few days, after setting off we stopped along the way for a morning coffee and did not notice any problems so we moved on to Echuca for lunch,
Autumn at Rutherglen Victoria
I was discussing the numberplate issue with a fellow traveller and went to have a look at my plate and got the shock of my life, there was no bikes or spare wheel to be seen, we discussed whether to go back to see if we could find the remains but it meant anything up to 150k so we just had to travel on. The bikes were not insured because they were not in the van or annex, the spare wheel is insured but the cost to replace was less than the excess so there ends another experience.(we think that someone may have been trying to steal our bikes while in Shepparton but was disturbed and left a bolt loose allowing the bracket to move then break ? must remember to check things properly in future)
I want to take this opportunity to get people to check their ins/ policy even if you have your bikes insured separately they may not be insured if  you carry them on the back of the van.
We are now resting and sightseeing in Mildura, I have purchased a new wheel & tyre and bracket but the bike search is another thing. The weather here is cold but beautiful sunny days, the locals are saying that it is colder than usual but I think that is the norm everywhere.
Murray River Art
Since my last blog I have added a "Jacks" antenna and a hatch to the van which make a great difference to our comfort, the antenna is the best I have used with no bad receptions as yet, I also moved the gas bottles out of the boot to give me some more room (must have my junk) and moved the pole carrier from through the front of the van to the rear bumper which gives us more room under the bed and I have fitted 2 access doors either side where the pole carrier was, sounds like I have spent a fortune but anyone who knows me know that I am always looking for a bargain !!!! We are also in the process of updating our decor in the van where possible because that is what you do?  I think I may have solved the problem getting links to photos so try it out . Click Here

until next time.........
