More of our Meanderings

After completing  almost  4mths of house sitting in Rutherglen and Corowa we are back on the road again looking for the warmer weather although I don't know why we are in Griffith as it was 0 deg here last night, a beautiful morning though after travelling here yesterday in constant rain. While in Corowa I went to the local gym (Health Culture) twice a week and I was getting fit until I got the dreaded virus, I did manage a 30min challenge on 6 different apparatus in the over 60 age group as they didn't have over 70s there wasn't any one on the board so now I am on top for the time being.I was a bit disappointed with the treadmill result but I wasn't sure how hard to push.
My 30min Challenge

Before leaving we went down to my daughters in Pakenham to see Jackson my great grandchild before  we hit the road again then we ended up meeting the rest of the family because they were having a get together for two of my grand children and I was spoilt with father's day presents so I have plenty of socks & jocks now plus some polish for the car, it was a great weekend.

We are staying in Griffith for a week so we can get back into our routine in the van and everything is starting to fall into place again except we seem to have gathered extra "stuff", it looks like another clear out is coming up,

We booked a site in Canberra for a week after we leave here, we don't normally book ahead like that but it is almost impossible if you don't.
We travelled from Griffith to Temora which is the home of the famous pacer "Paleface Adios" and there is also an aircraft museum there, on the way we stopped for a cuppa at "Barellan" which is  "Evonne Goolagong" country, we did our touristy stuff at "Temora" and I also had a couple of swims at the indoor heated pool, I freshened up the cough and sniffles though, then we left for Canberra, the caravan park is actually in NSW so we have a 15min trip into the tourist attractions each time, so far we have visited the war museum, old parliament house and "Questacon" which is a interactive science display (mainly for kids so we integrated well)

The park here is ok but I have had cold showers the last 2 days and Marion couldn't do any washing today because they had run out of tokens for the machines??? I complained a couple of times so they gave us the keys to a cabin to use the shower there for the rest of our stay.

We went to the Institute of Sport today and loved it although it would have been better without kids (school holidays) as they hogged all the fun machines, our guides were a netballer and a rugby league students, we watched some skipping championships and those kids are good, then we went to the Australian Mint & watched coins being stamped, what amazed me was the amount of money being spent in a place that makes money !!!!! They charged $3 to mint your own $1 coin.

Some Tulips at Floiade
The weather has finally turned wet and cold so we are not sure if we will make it to Floriade tomorrow our last day here. We made it to "Floriade", it was ok but I am not sure what all the fuss is about, I suppose if you are a gardener it would be different,we grabbed a coffee and cakebut had to wait for 1/2hr, when we got it Marions coffe was cold so had to return it, and so ends our stay at Canberra and I am a bit disappointed that I didn't get to have a swim here but I still have a heavy chest and coughing from the previous virus.
We are off to Goulburn tomorrow which is only 80k away but we are making arrangements to meet some friends we met while staying at Darwin they have a property 40k from Goulburn where we hope to be staying for a few nights if we survive the current freeze 0 > 12deg tomorrow.
We are enjoying our stay here at "Taralga", we are going to Sydney tomorrow for a few days to stay with the friends who own the hut at Taralga, after that we are not sure what to do as every road leads to Bathurst when we are due to leave here so it might be a case of sit tight for a few extra days.
More miscellaneous photos Here

Cheers for now..........
